Nostalgia Board:

Do you remember something that might interest our visitors!!!

If so, email our webmaster with the title NOSTALGIA.

When I was a lad, I can remember the trains stopping at the top of our street so all the kids could board for their yearly day trip to the coast that was laid on by The Silverwood Colliery Workmen's & Official Social Club, better known locally as "The Baggin".

Here is a ticket from Thrybergh to Cleethorpes on train No.4 on 3rd July 1965.

Mr. J. S. H. Fullerton, J.P., D.L. is the Squire of Thrybergh who was born at Boothby Graffoe, Lincoln, and is the eldest son of the late Rev. G. C. Fullerton, of Thrybergh, educated at Harrow and formerly Master of the Badsworth Foxhounds, afterwards of the York and Ainsty, and the Avon Vale Hunt.

Can anyone remember the Market Trader ERNIE WRIGHT who used to travel around Dalton Area in his van - if  I remember correctly he sold just about anything and everything from the van and his market stall on Domine Lane.
Can anyone remember the working men's club turn - a comedian named Jimmy Monty?  I believe he came from Dalton area and would like to know more about him.

I lived on Abell Street and can remember in 1965 a woman known as Mrs. Johnson used to go around all the streets and if she saw a newspaper in a window, it was a sign for her to call and pick up a bet for the bookies.
